160th anniversary of the January Uprising the subject of the new issue of Poczta Polska

January 20 this year In the 10th Pavilion of the Warsaw Citadel, a new postcard of Poczta Polska was presented commemorating the heroes of the largest Polish national uprising of the 19th century. The value was prepared in cooperation with the Independence Museum.

The ceremonial unveiling of the postcard was made by Krzysztof Górski, director of the International Cooperation Office and Philately. He also read a letter from Krzysztof Falkowski, president of Poczta Polska addressed to participants of the celebration.

- By telling about heroic deeds through philatelic values, we want to educate the young generation, promote patriotic attitudes and joint attachment to the superior values. This is an important element of the mission that the Polish Post has been implemented for years, whose fate for nearly five centuries has been inseparably connected with the history of our homeland - emphasized in the letter Krzysztof Falkowski, president of Poczta Polska.

A picture entitled "Farewell to Europe". On the printed sign of the postal fee, a work entitled "Portrait of Helena née Majewski Kirkorowa" was placed. Both works by Aleksander Sochaczewski are a painting diary documenting exile to Siberia after the January Uprising. The work of this artist is considered a kind of historical source of iconographic and documentary nature. The paintings are the property of the Historical Museum of the Capital City of Warsaw. They are the deposit of the Independence Museum - X Pavilion of the Warsaw Citadel.

This year is the second philatelic publishing house dedicated to the January Uprising. On January 19, the National Postal Operator introduced the issue card "160. Anniversary of the Battle of Węgrów. " 

In the coming days, the third value will be released on the heroic figure of Stanisławów Brzóski, a clergy, general and the chief chaplain of the Podlasie voivodship during the January Uprising.
