European Team Championships in Athletics on the new Poczta Polska stamp
On Friday, May 28 this year, Poczta Polska introduces into circulation the emission stamp "Team European Championships in Silesia 2021 athletics". The value, issued by the national postal operator, is part of activities aimed at promoting the largest athletic event on the Old Continent, which this year, like two years ago, takes place in Poland.
The solemn presentation of the stamp was held on May 27 this year. And she went with the participation of Anna Krupka - Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Tomasz Zdzikot - President of the Board of Poczta Polska, Bartłomiej Kowalski - CEO of the local Executive Committee of the European Team Championships in Silesia 2021 athletics and Tomasz Majewski - Vice President of the Polish Athletics Association.
Anita Włodarczyk and Paweł Fajdek - titled Polish representatives in the hammer throw were presented on the stamp. The silhouettes of athletes are highlighted in a distinct gold color, which refers to their successes and to the desire to defend the highest degree of the podium of the entire athletic team. The background of value is the Silesian Stadium - a place where European players will compete - together with the panorama of the city. In addition to the stamp, Poczta Polska has published, in a limited version, the FDC envelope, i.e. an envelope on the first day of circulation. It presents the interior of the arena of this year's struggle.
- The Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport supports all activities that contribute to strengthening the role of Poland as the organizer of the greatest sporting events. We are perceived as a serious and reliable partner with whom the largest federations and international organizations want to cooperate. We are very pleased and we will not stop at the support of this event. I am convinced that many similar sporting events are ahead of us, and thus, numerous opportunities for subsequent editions of postage stamps and for further cooperation with Poczta Polska - said Anna Krupka, deputy minister of culture, national heritage and sport.
- Thanks to our philatelic activities, we can promote the most important sport and cultural events. The struggles of European athletes will once again take place in Poland. I am extremely happy that Poczta Polska can join the celebration of the European team championships in athletics and be part of this extraordinary undertaking. I am very hopeful that our representatives will once again confirm their dominance on the Old Continent and defend the gold medal - said Tomasz Zdzikot, president of the board of Poczta Polska.
- The European Team Championships in Athletics are a unique Sports Day. First, Poles defend the title of the Old Continent champion won two years ago. Secondly, we will be able to host supporters in the stands, whose doping will definitely motivate white and red to fight. I am glad that in the case of this event we were able to cooperate with Poczta Polska. Not every event receives such a unique distinction as the postage stamp. And we did it and I am very proud of it - said Bartłomiej Kowalski, CEO of the local Executive Committee of the European Team Championships in the Silesia 2021 athletics.
Poczta Polska also liked his stars: Anita Włodarczyk and Paweł Fajdek.
- This is the second stamp I found myself and I must admit that it's a great feeling. I really liked the colors with a golden accent and I am sure that this edition will remind you of an unusual event for years - said Anita Włodarczyk.
- I liked the visible emotions very much on the stamp: from pride from the represented discipline to joy while gaining subsequent achievements. I think that the project perfectly reflects what we can admire for 2 days of struggle at the Silesian Stadium - added Paweł Fajdek.
The European Team Championships in Athletics are a direct continuation of the European Cup of athletes. Since 2015, they have been organized in a two -year cycle. In 2019, the struggle took place in Bydgoszcz, and our team won a gold medal on them. This year's edition will take place on May 29 and 30 at the Silesian Stadium. The Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport supports the organization of championship events and international qualifying competitions for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Poland in 2021. The European Team Championships received a subsidy in the amount of PLN 900,000. The event can be seen on TVP Sport. The stands will be opened for fans. According to the current safety rules, 7,600 places will be available.
