Philatelic emission (not) only for lovers

Before the upcoming Valentine's Day, Poczta Polska introduced the occasional stamp and the emission card "I love you". The stamp was used a heart motif folded according to Origami art.

Poczta Polska encourages to maintain tradition and send Valentine's Day manually. This custom has only been present in Poland since the 1990s, it has become extremely popular. The gesture of handing Valentine's Day is a way of expressing a feeling, but also an expression of the memory of the people closest to us. On this day, not only in love, but through the Valentine's handed, we show sympathy for loved ones and friends. This year, Walentynka can be given a special postage stamp.

The stamp of this year's emission "I love you" is decorated with heart -shaped origami. The broadcast is accompanied by the first day of circulation (FDC), on which the Red Origami heart is also the main element of the illustration. The broadcast is accompanied by an occasional date stamp, where the heart motif was repeated, but this time in the form of a contour.

Saint. Walenty, the patron of lovers of lovers, is a mysterious figure. He was the bishop of Ternia near Rome. Legend has it that Saint. Walenty spoke against the edict of the emperor, prohibiting marriages. Emperor Claudius II noticed that married men are more likely to stay at home instead of eagerly participating in wars. Saint. Walenty, however, ignored this prohibition and in secret gave weddings to couples in love. Unfortunately, the secret seemed and the saint was lost.

According to the second version of the circumstances of the death of St. Walenty was completely different. The bishop of Ternia in the 3rd century was endowed by God with extraordinary healing power. The news of this reached the Roman philosopher of Kraton, whose son was seriously ill with epilepsy, and Kraton came to Walenty for help. Saint. Walenty agreed to help Kraton's family, provided that he was converted. It happened too. Convinced by a miracle made by the saint, the philosopher baptized, and with him his relatives and students. However, this fact was reluctant to accept the Roman Senate, and Saint. Walenty was considered a person dangerous to you and sentenced to death.

Regardless of the adopted version, the Basilica of St. Walenty in Ternie is considered a key place of Valentine's Day celebrations. There is a reliquary with the remains of the patron and the signature "Saint Valentine, Patron of Love." This place is often visited by brides from various parts of the world and spouses who celebrate the anniversary of the sacrament of marriage.
