The Dar Postal Foundation organizes a collection for the renovation of a monument to a distinguished Pole resting in Kresy
The monument to Jan Maksymilian Moszczyński is located at the Lviv Lychakiv Cemetery. This figure is important not only for Poczta Polska, but also all of Poland. His work had an impact on postal services provided at important moments of the history of our country. The "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation collects funds for the renovation of his monument and the memory of a distinguished Pole in the memory. By organizing the collection, the "Pocztowy Dar" Foundation cooperates with the Lviv and Eastern Borderland Lovers Society, which has been organizing issues in Warsaw cemeteries for the renovation of Lviv cemeteries and Polish monuments of Lviv and southeastern borders for over thirty years. He also cultivates the traditions and culture of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands and the help of charity compatriots behind the eastern border.
Jan Moszczyński was born on May 23, 1869 in Lviv. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Lviv, he worked in the management of post and telegraphs in Lviv for 28 years. After Poland regained independence, he began working at the Ministry of Post and Telegraphs. He worked there, among others As the head of the Central Field Postal Board at the Ministry of Post and Telegraphs in Warsaw, the head of the Postal Department at the Ministry of the former Prussian district and director of the Postal Department at the Ministry of Post and Telegraphs. In the years 1922–1923 he was the head of the ministry in the rule of Julian Nowak and the government of Władysław Sikorski, and then the minister of that ministry in the government of Wincenty Witos. In 1924, after the establishment of the General Directorate of Post and Telegraphs, Jan Moszczyński was appointed as the General Director of Poczt and Telegraphs. He held this function until May 12, 1926. After the May coup, he was retired. After death, on December 2, 1932, buried in the Lychakiv Cemetery.
