Modern trains on the stamps - we promote an ecological railway
"Modern rolling stock" is a series of 5 postage stamps with a tag, which Poczta Polska will bring into circulation on Wednesday, March 31. Publishers were established in cooperation with the Railway Transport Office. This coincides with the establishment by the European Parliament and the EU Council of 2021 with the European Year of Railway (ERK2021). Giving the clients of post office and philatelists the latest values is an opportunity to promote railways as an ecological and modern means of transport. Emission of stamps is also a symbolic start of ERK2021 in Poland.
The author of the projects, Jan Konarzewski, as part of the latest publishing house presented contemporary, electric rail vehicles used in Poland by the largest carriers - PKP Intercity, POLREGIO and Koleje Mazowieckie. The individual stamps presented: Pendolino, Flirt, Dart, Impuls and Elf II, and a historic steam locomotive. Poczta Polska also issued 3 limited FDC envelopes, i.e. envelopes on the first day of circulation. They present graphics of railway bridges.
- With each year, Polish railway rolling stock is becoming more modern and more secure. Poczta Polska sees this and together with the Office of Railway Transport, presents on 5 stamps rail vehicles, promoting not only the safest, but also one of the most ecological means of transport on land. A philatelic curiosity is the PT31 steam locomotive shown in the tag, which was synonymous with the modernity of the Polish railway in the 1930s - says Wiesław Włodek, vice president of Poczta Polska.
The latest issue of Poczta Polska is a response to the demand for railways reported by philatelists. It is also an excellent opportunity to promote ecological means of transport. The slogan "Green Post" is one of the key goals contained in the company's latest strategy.
The initiator of the ERK2021 project is the European Commission. Throughout 2021, numerous events related to rail transport will take place, which aims to increase the importance of the railway and promote it as an intelligent and ecological means of movement. The coordinator of national events is associated with the President of the Office of Railway Transport, with which Poczta Polska cooperated in the implementation of the latest issue.
On Monday, March 29, the European Commission and the Portuguese Presidency officially began the year. In Poland, the symbolic start of the year is the start of the emission of stamps with modern rolling stock.
- I am glad that we were able to encourage Poczta Polska to broadcast this series of stamps. The railway is an important element of the life and economy of each country. Its potential and ecological character should be emphasized at every step. The European Year of Railway is an impulse for the wide promotion of rail transport as a safe, pro -ecological and connecting people and regions of the means of transport - summed up the start of the issue by Dr. Eng. Ignacy Góra, president of the Office of Railway Transport.
An additional attraction related to the latest series is that in addition to standard stamps with perforation (125,000 each), Poczta Polska will introduce not to the values (10,000 pieces each), which will be a rarity for collectors.
This is not the first publishing house of Poczta Polska related to the rail. In 2018, the company issued postage stamps "100 years of a steam engine in Kędzierzyn-Koźle", depicting the locomotives of the Ty42-107 series and the TKT48 series.
