New Europa emission stamp. Underwater ecosystem in the rays of light

Poczta Polska has introduced a new Europe emission stamp, whose main topic is underwater fauna and flora. A bang fish was presented on the stamp, symbolizing the richness of water ecosystems, whose protection is a key element in maintaining environmental balance.

This year's emission of stamps from the Europe series is aimed at promoting environmental protection and encouraging to take broad initiatives in this area. First of all, he sets itself the task of reversing the trend of degradation most characteristic of all of Europe, the water environments of large lowland rivers, which for centuries played an important role in the landscape, economy and life of the community.

The project by Bożydar Rozdeva used a photo taken by Irena Stangierska, a recognized underwater photographer. Brzana, a representative of freshwater fish ( Barbus Barbus ) from the carp family, was placed in the environment of symbols of chemical elements, such as lead, mercury and iron, which are part of environmental pollution. These symbols consist of fish tail, creating an eloquent composition. A wider photographic intake of the water environment with its flora and fauna was used for the FDC on the first day of FDC. Emission is also accompanied by a occasional date stamp with a graphic image of a water arrow, a species of perennial characteristic of shallow waters.

Choosing a barbell for the postage stamp was not accidental. This species, as a bioindicator, plays an important role in assessing water quality. Bioindicators are organisms whose presence, behavior or physiological properties are used to assess the state of the environment. Thanks to its sensitivity to a decrease in oxygen content in water, the barb is a kind of water quality indicator. Its occurrence in the ecosystem allows you to state that the aquatic environment is relatively healthy and free of pollution.

The Europe series of stamps is a joint project of European postal administrations. These stamps have been issued continuously since 1956 and always contain the official Europe logo, which is a trademark of the Public Post -Administration Association of Posturop. Themes of publishing houses are usually related to culture, history, nature or achievements of a given country or region, and the series stamps symbolize cooperation between postal operators and promote common values. Their thematic diversity and the fact that they are often issued in limited expenditure or in special editions contribute to their popularity among email collectors.
