The first biometric card in Poland already at the post office
In the Polish Post Office throughout the country, you can already order a biometric card of Bank Pocztowy, which is the only payment tool of this kind in our part of the Old Continent. In Europe, only clients of one of the French financial institutions could use such a solution. The card is currently dedicated to institutional clients, but in the near future it is planned to expand the group of recipients also by individual clients.
In the largest network of own institutions in Poczta Polska SA, covering 4.7 thousand. offices and branches, clients of the micro -enterprise of Bank Pocztowy can order the Bank Pocztowy SA biometric card. Biometric card allows you to make payments authorized by means of biometric verification of fingerprint of the card holder.
In the network of Poczta Polska and the terminals operating in it, customers can also make payments with such a card. The biometric solution of Bank Pocztowy is part of the strategy chosen by the Polish Post.
- Poczta Polska, together with companies from its capital group, develops new technologies and introduces innovations, as exemplified by, among others Introduction of biometric cards by Bank Pocztowy. The digital mail is one of the strategic directions that we have designated and which we consistently implement to provide customers with a wide range of comfortable, modern and safe services. The number of non -cash transactions carried out in post offices is constantly growing, more and more customers use both payment cards and Blik, we are gradually increasing the number of POS payment terminals, currently we have over 12,000 .
- By developing in the scope of new technologies, Bank Pocztowy follows the expectations of customers who are increasingly willing to use online, mobile or cash transactions using payment cards - card payments already make 62% of all transactions in Poland. Our latest solution - a biometric card, supports this trend - says Jakub Słupiński, president of the board of Bank Pocztowy SA
- Biometric cards are a complete novelty, not only in Poland but also in the world. Thales, which has developed this advanced technology, provides its product only to five markets, including one European. For clients of Bank Pocztowy and Poczta Polska, the use of the latest technologies means even more convenient and safer transactions, and for us supporting dynamic development in Poland in the non -cash payments market - comments Marcin Ledworowski, a member of the management board of Bank Pocztowy responsible for the area of business and IT.
This solution ensures security in each contactless transaction, regardless of the amount, because it requires biometric authentication. Before making the payment, it is necessary to apply a thumb to a special sensor on the obverse of the card, in which the fingerprint reads. If the imprint agrees with the previously encoded biometric pattern, the green LED will light up confirming the possibility of making the transaction. After saving the biometric pattern of the fingerprint, no one else, except the legitimate card holder, can make a transaction. Importantly, an encrypted biometric fingerprint pattern is saved only on the payment card. The data is not stored in the reader, in the bank's systems, or sent to the POS terminal or ATM during payment.
It is worth noting that this innovation has already been positively evaluated by the industry and clients. In the Cashless Pay 2021 competition for the most interesting payment solution that debuted on the Polish market in 2021, the Biometric Card of Bank Pocztowy SA took 1st place in the category of the most interesting payment card and 2nd place in the most interesting payment solution category.
