Poczta Polska paid tribute to the Warsaw Insurgents
The Warsaw Uprising enrolled in history as one of the most important events shaping Polish identity. It was the personification of key values such as patriotism, freedom or determination in opposing Germany. This year, Poczta Polska undertook a number of activities aimed at commemorating and honoring participants of the events of August, September and October 1944.
This year's main project of the company, which was aimed at celebrating the 77th anniversary of the outbreak of the independence uprising, was the release of the album entitled: The forgotten history of insurgent Warsaw in the personal files of the Polish Postal Archives . The main goal of this publication was the desire to restore the memory of the heroes, people who were previously not written and not talked about, those who did not participate in spectacular armed actions, but were also part of the insurgent bloodstream, and which co -creates the history of Warsaw and more broadly - Poland.
- Analysis of passenger files of former communications department employees have shown that many of them took an active part in the Warsaw Uprising. This fact could not be omitted and disregarded by an institution such as Poczta Polska, which guards Polish history and tradition. I am very hopeful that our publishing house will be a dignified part of this year's anniversary celebrations and will contribute to the promotion of the most important values related to the history and tradition of the Polish nation, which is also part of the postal album - said Tomasz Zdzikot, President of the Board of Poczta Poczta.
The materials prepared for the needs of this Publisher were developed in cooperation with the Institute of National Remembrance, the Military Historical Office and the Polish Army Museum.
- On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, an album dedicated to postcards fighting in the Warsaw Uprising appears. - Poczta Polska is an institution that has very rich traditions, its functioning is invariably related to the history of Poland. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, director of the Military Historical Office Gen. Broni Kazimierz Sosnkowski.
- The Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, recognizing the effort of Poczta Polska aimed at expanding the knowledge of the history of the Warsaw Uprising, decided to include its publication and cooperate in the preparation of the album providing photos of monuments from its collections.
