Poczta Polska issues an stamp honoring the 40th anniversary of "Solidarity"
August 31 this year. Poczta Polska introduces the emission postage-the 40th anniversary of NSZZ "Solidarność". The value of 1 million pieces commemorates the establishment of an organization symbolizing anti -communist resistance in Poland and in the world.
The author of the project, Jan Konarzewski, presented on the stamp a hand arranged in a gesture of "Victoria" as a symbol of victory in which the contours placed a fragment of a photo depicting a spontaneous crowd.
- NSZZ "Solidarność" is a symbol of a free and independent country and a proud nation who can fight for his rights and dignity without agreeing to impose foreign forces. Thanks to the activities of the anti -communist opposition, Poland was able to become sovereign again. "Solidarity" was a spontaneous movement, a resistance movement and opposition to communist authorities. Poczta Polska wants to honor this social movement by introducing a stamp commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Union - says Tomasz Udzikot, president of the board of Poczta Polska.
In addition to the stamp, Poczta Polska issued, in a limited version, an envelope FDC, i.e. an envelope issued on the first day of circulation. It has a list of NSZZ "Solidarity" regions against the background of the contour map of the Commonwealth.
Last year, the company introduced the postage stamp honoring the NSZZ "Solidarity" icon Anna Walentynowicz.
