Polish Post Office in the new industry with a pallet shipment
Poczta Polska has acquired an important customer - Tobacco Trading International Poland (TTI), one of the leaders of the tobacco market in Poland. The post office will perform logistics services for her as part of the national pallet shipment, which is intensively developed by the national postal operator.
Establishing cooperation with TTI has opened the Polish Post Office to expand its clients' portfolio to serve the tobacco industry. Its specificity is excise tax and meeting the requirements related to the EU Directive "Track and Trace" - a system of tracking tobacco products that determines the identification and cracking of shipments. This was associated with the need to adapt IT systems of Poczta Polska.
- The development of logistics services and acquiring new, key clients in this area is the strategic direction of the Poczta Polska. Despite the pandemic this year, the number of our clients using the national pallet shipment increased by 16% - says Andrzej Bodziony, vice president of Poczta Polska.
Poland is the second largest, after Italy, a producer of dried tobacco in Europe. It is grown mainly in the south -eastern provinces of our country. Tobacco products are light goods, which makes it easy to use. On the other hand, special regulatory requirements on this market mean that the operation of such pallet shipments requires adaptation of IT systems to the obligation to report in the "track and trace" system.
Transport of pallet charges, both trunk, burnt and partial, is an important branch of the mail logistics, which the company has been successively developing in the country since 2009, as well as in Europe (including in Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands) from February 2019. At the beginning of this year, the post office launched direct connections with the Baltic countries Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and in July the first direct transports to the Czech Republic and Slovakia left.
