20th century coach on the postage stamp
On Friday, February 26 this year, Poczta Polska gave the "Kazimierz Górski" broadcast stamp to the customers and philatelists. A new value, in the circulation of a million pieces - introduced into circulation on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Polish trainer - will go to post offices throughout the country.
The solemn presentation of the stamp took place on February 26 this year. at the Warsaw Museum of Sport and Tourism, with the participation of Anna Krupka - Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport, President and Vice President of Poczta Polska Tomasz Zdzikot and Wiesław Włodek, ambassador of the Kazimierz Górski Foundation - Janusz Jesionka and President of PKol - Andrzej Kraśnicki. The event was attended by the son of Kazimierz Górski - Dariusz Górski with his family.
- I am glad that the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Kazimierz Górski - a great coach, coach of the Polish national team - was immortalized in such a unique way. In the football history of our country there was no other coach like Kazimierz Górski. Victories and medals won by "Mountain Eagle" are among the greatest successes of Polish sport - said Anna Krupka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport.
The author of the project, Jarosław Essendzan, presented the silhouette of Kazimierz Górski on the stamp. In the limited version, in addition to the stamp, Poczta Polska released the FDC envelope - i.e. the envelope on the first day of circulation. It presents the coach of the 20th century on the pitch of the football field during the training session with the Polish national team. The date stamp contains the signature of Kazimierz Górski.
- Poczta Polska has been honoring for years with its stamps of outstanding Poles, characters known from the world of culture, science, but also sport, which makes our country famous in the international arena. Kazimierz Górski undoubtedly belongs to the group of people who have signed up in the history of our sport and it is worth reminding this character to subsequent generations - said Tomasz Zdzikot, president of the board of Poczta Polska.
Kazimierz Górski was a footballer and one of the most outstanding football coaches in the 20th century. With the Polish national team he reached for the Olympic championship in 1972 (Munich) and the Olympic runner up at the next Games (Montreal). The most prestigious achievement in the coaching career of Kazimierz Górski was the acquisition of the bronze medal with the Polish team during the 1974 World Championships (Germany). During his adventure with club ball, he reached for the Greek championship five times and four times for the Greek Cup. In 1960 he won the Polish runner -up with Legia Warsaw. In the years 1991–1995 he was the president of PZPN, and from 1995 the function of honorary president of the Polish Football Federation.
- Kazimierz Górski was an outstanding trainer, a great selector and a unique educator. Above all, however - a commonly respected man. Such people are extremely rare - said Janusz Jesionek, president of the Kazimierz Górski Foundation - professional successes that he achieved - and yet they were enormous - most of us would pose uncommon pride. However, Mr. Kazimierz did not change. He was a very calm person, and it turned out to be crucial when the Polish national team played for very high rates. And it is known that during the mountain term she always competed for the highest ones. He was able to react at the same emotional level, even in crisis situations - emphasized Janusz Jesionek.
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kazimierz Górski began in December last year, when PKP Intercity launched a railway connection between Rzeszów and Szczecin under the name "TLK Górski". On the occasion of the birth anniversary, a commemorative banknote was also issued, which is issued by the Sports and Tourism Museum in Warsaw. The next point of the celebration will be the temporary exhibition "Casimir Górski connects us", which will be presented from March 2 - September 10 in this museum. The culmination of the celebration will be a gala with the participation of many of the pupils of the famous coach, scheduled for April 24 in Warsaw.
- The latest circulation emission of Poczta Polska resembles an unusual figure, the most outstanding coach in the history of Polish football. Kazimierz Górski not only created a team of dreams, with the national team he won Olympic gold and silver and bronze at the world championships, defeated England, Brazil, Italy and Argentina, but above all he showed that Poles do not have to have complexes on the pitch and are able to win with the best. Under his direction, the Polish football became the power and great pride of the fans - said Wiesław Włodek, vice president of the Poczta Polska Board.
As part of football publications, Poczta Polska published in 2018 an honor stamp of Robert Lewandowski. In 2019, the qualities dedicated to Kazimierz Deyna and the 100th anniversary of the Polish Football Association were in circulation.
