In tribute to the heroes - Poczta Polska commemorated the insurgents of the Warsaw Ghetto
On April 19, Poczta Polska introduced into circulation an occasional stamp, honoring the act of heroic insurgents from the Warsaw ghetto. The latest philatelic value is a expression of appreciation for heroism and steadfastness of Jewish combat organizations, which undertook an unequal fight with the German torturer.
Roch Stefaniak, a stamp designer, used the star of David on the graphics. This is one of the most important symbols of the Jewish people and the state of Israel. Jews locked in the Warsaw Ghetto were forced to wear armbands with a star. Such marking was to stigmatize man, in addition, it was associated with social exclusion, sanctioned by law introduced by the occupier.
This year's broadcast is complemented by an envelope on the first day of circuit (FDC), in which a fragment of photographs of the headquarters of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum appeared.
A symbol of resistance of Polish Jews towards the Holocaust
In 1940, the Germans created a ghetto in Warsaw, which became a place of suffering and extermination for over 420 thousand. Jews. Deportations to the extermination camps began in 1942. In just two months, about 270,000 were killed. people. In the face of this tragedy, underground organizations were created - a Jewish combat organization and the Jewish Military Association. In April 1943, the Jewish population took up the largest armed uprising during World War II. The fighters died, but their fight remained with a symbol of heroism and dedication.
Poczta Polska remembers the heroism of the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto
On the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Poczta Polska celebrated a special issue of an occasional stamp with a yellow daffodil. The collection devoted to the celebration was designed by artist artist Marzanna Dąbrowska based on the logotype project of Helena Czernek and Klara Jankiewicz.
The 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Poczta Poczta Poczta consisted of a special postcard, on which an illustration depicting the image of Artur Szyk entitled "We people, Samson in the ghetto" from 1945.
In 2021, Poczta Polska introduced a philatelic emission commemorating Marek Edelman, a doctor, an outstanding social activist and one of the leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, who defended the right to freedom and respect for human dignity.
