Poczta Polska launched a new packing sorter in the Lublin sorting plant. This is the second of three modern machines for automatic sorting KEP (courier, express and parcel), which the company commits this year in its sorting plants. Only in Lublin, Poczta Polska allocated almost PLN 50 million to the implementation of this investment. Earlier, in May, a similar device was installed and launched in Wrocław.
The ceremony of the first launch of the new sorter was attended by, among others Jan Kanthak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Asset - supervising the Polish Post, Lublin Voivode - Lech Czekka, Deputy Marshal of the Lublin Province - Zbigniew Wojciechowski, president of the Bemer Poland Group - Jarosław Gorczyński and Krzysztof Falkowski, president of Poczta Polska and vice president Andrzej Bodziony.
The "cross belt" type sorting machine is equipped with 3 hand feeders, 1 telescopic, hand coding zone 2 stands, 98 directional slides, 5 special slides, 48 vertical slides and a zone of manual administration of small shipments directly on the sorter tray (7 positions). The length of the entire sorter loop is 285 m, and its operational efficiency will allow for sorting about 7,000. shipments per hour (at 2.5 m/s for standard shipments).
The Lublin sorter is the second such device put into use this year. In May, a sorter in a sorting plant in Wrocław was launched, and in the third quarter of this year. It is planned to complete the installation of another sorter in the Lisim Tail near Bydgoszcz. In 2021, the Ministry of State Asset decided to recapitalize Poczta Polska in the amount of PLN 190 million. These funds were transferred to the implementation and assembly of modern sorters. The full amount of investment outlays allocated for this purpose is PLN 350 million.
As part of the project to expand the architecture of the logistics network (ASL), Poczta Polska is successively transforming its logistics infrastructure from Paczkowa. This is the company's response to changes observed on the postal market both in Poland and in the world. Modernization and construction of logistics centers and their coloring will ensure effective support for the developing e-commerce market.
The sorter has the functionality of multilateral automatic identification of numbers coded in all standard and non-standard single-dimensional codes in combination with the addressee's data, which are obtained from broadcasting systems and additionally the functionality of recognizing the recipient's address using OCR using OCR directly from shipments or labels placed on them, it is a high potential for the accuracy of the operation. It accelerates the chapter and minimizes the share of manual development. The innovation of this solution is unique on a global scale and unheard of in the case of standard solutions used by competitive operators.
The device is "tailor -made" and adapted to the utility needs of Poczta Polska, as well as the size and potential of the sorting plant. The innovation of the solution will allow universalism and handling of different sizes of shipments. The sorting plant in Lublin has an important function for logistics service of contractual clients, serving in the transmitting phase several thousand entities, including the e-commerce industry, the public finance sector, and stationary sales network. Later this year, the sorter in the company's logistics hall in the Lisim Tail near Bydgoszcz will also be put into use. One of the currently implemented strategic projects of Poczta Polska is also the rental and coloring of the Warsaw II sorting plant in the town of Darkne near Radzymin. This machine is to be put into use in Q2 2024.
