230 Couple -APSTACTIONS3MAJA_KOPERTA_162x114On Monday, May 3 this year, the anniversary of the oldest constitution in Europe falls. On this occasion, Poczta Polska will introduce the emission stamp "230. Anniversary of the adoption of the 3rd May Constitution. "

The author of the project, Jan Konarzewski, presented on the stamp a fragment of the painting of Jan Matejko "Constitution of May 3, 1791", from the collection of the Museum of the Royal Castle in Warsaw. In addition to the stamp, Poczta Polska has published, in a limited version, the FDC envelope, i.e. an envelope on the first day of circulation. It presents the individual staff of the work used to create the latest philatelic value.

- The stamp dedicated to the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of May 3 was developed in cooperation with the Royal Castle, based on one of the scenes from the famous painting by master Jan Matejko. Reminding the most important events in the history of Poland and Poles is the responsibility of the National Postal Operator, which our company proudly fills - said Tomasz Zdzikot, president of the board of Poczta Polska.

The May 3 Constitution was adopted in 1791 at the Four -Year Sejm. It was the first in Europe and the second in the world (after the American Constitution of 1787) a modern, written constitution. On its basis, the Montesquieczów division of power was adopted and the free election and liberum veto were abolished. Introduced a constitutional monarchy in the Commonwealth.
