- This exceptional broadcast of Poczta Polska joins the national celebration of the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Home Army, giving honor to its soldiers and their fight for free and sovereign Poland. The symbol of the involvement of postal workers in the activities of the Home Army is the figure of Iwona Krułowska - a postcard and soldier. Her dedication and heroism, despite the torture she was subjected to, as well as death at the hands of the German occupier, deserve heart and the highest respect - says Tomasz Zdzikot, president of Poczta Polska.
On February 14, 1942, by order of the commander -in -chief of the Polish Armed Forces of General Władysław Sikorski, the Home Army was created - the largest underground army in occupied Central Europe. The Home Army was an integral part of the Armed Forces of the Commonwealth, subordinate to the constitutional state authorities operating in exile. The underground army was armed, trained staff, conducted a subversive, intelligence and counterintelligence, preparing the country for the armed national uprising, which was to free Poland from the hands of the occupiers. The Warsaw Uprising was the greatest military operation of the Home Army. Over 350,000 served in the Home Army sworn soldiers. One of them was Iwona Krułowska pseud. "Sallow".
From 1932, Iwona Krugłowska worked at the Main Post Office in Warsaw. The heroines found in the Poczta Poczta Poczta Polska, containing personal documents, allowed to "recreate" the biography from before the war and the course of a professional career at the post office. During the German occupation, she was a soldier of the Polish Victory Service, the Union of Armed Struggle and then the Home Army assigned to the 7th Department of Finance and Control of the General Headquarters. The task of this structure was to broadly collect, dispose of and control financial resources flowing through the Home Army and to organize underground premises. During the occupation, she officially worked in the "Bar under the side", where the underground place was arrested on May 18, 1944.
The anniversary of the establishment of the Home Army, the Armed Forces of the Polish Underground State, is an opportunity to show the heroes of ordinary Poles erected in an extraordinary situation. Postcards were also such ordinary-unleashed Poles, because the history of Poczta Polska employees are inseparably connected with the history of Poland. Iwona Krugłowska, the AK heroine, main post office in Warsaw, a telegraphist, sacrificial and adamant in the fight against the occupier. Reminding her fate, heroism, steadfastness and heroic death is our duty - says Poczta Vice President Wiesław Włodek.
